Along with actors Daniel Brühl and Michael Nyqvist, scenes for the film were also filmed in Luxembourg and Germany before continuing on to South America. Based on real-life occurrences during the Chilean military overthrow in 1973, the film draws inspiration from historic events.
Emma has landed a significant role in the upcoming film where she will play Lena, a German woman on a mission to find her husband who has been taken by General Pinochet’s secret police and brought to a cult sanctuary named Colonia Dignidad. This group, disguised as a charitable mission led by a preacher, was actually a sinister organization that tortured prisoners sent there by the dictator. Determined to uncover the truth and locate her husband, Lena decides to infiltrate the cult. Despite its outward appearance of having a school, hospital, airstrips, restaurant, and power station, recent reports reveal that Colonia was also a brutal torture site, as stated in a 1977 Amnesty International report on political prisoners in Chile.
Moving on: Previously, scenes for the film were filmed in both Luxembourg and Germany.
Surrounded by great talent: Production for the movie started in September and features actors such as Daniel Brühl and Michael Nyqvist.
Jet-setter: Just a few days ago, Emma was strutting her stuff in London, where she proudly accepted a British Style Award at the prestigious British Fashion Awards.
According to reports, there have been claims of cruel experiments being conducted at Colonia Dinidad, located near the town of Parral in Linares Province, approximately 400 kilometers south of Santiago.
Back in 2005, the BBC disclosed that former political detainees attested to the existence of a network of underground tunnels at the colony, where they were subjected to gruesome torture involving electric shocks accompanied by the melodies of Wagner and Mozart.
The character played by Michael Nyqvist is reportedly inspired by Paul Schäfer, who was the mastermind behind the German community residing in Colonia Dinidad. Schäfer, a Nazi sympathizer and former medic, fled Germany in 1961 following allegations of molestation of two boys while overseeing another commune disguised as a charitable institution.
